I’m so excited to share this limited edition collection created in collaboration with Farrow & Ball and Vinterior. As you may already know, Vinterior is an online pre-owned furniture marketplace and a proud supporter of everything vintage; whilst Farrow & Ball is a world renowned manufacturer of paints and wallpapers since 1946, based in Dorset UK. The two companies have partnered up to create a capsule collection of freshly painted, pre-owned furniture which is very exciting.
“We've seen a lot of interest in upcycled items in the past six months, it's almost as popular as mid-century design now. Whether you're upcycling yourself or choosing a pre-owned piece which has already been restored, we see this movement continuing to grow. It's not only a better choice for the planet but often a more economical one as well.”
Vinterior Brand Director, Lucy Ward.
Alongside two other furniture designers, Pato Interiors and Belton & Butler, we were asked to source a selection of secondhand pieces then reimagine them with a specific colour palette celebrating Farrow & Balls newest colours. The idea is to show the potential of pre-owned furniture whilst promoting the concept of sustainability alongside style; hopefully this will inspire people to either try furniture refinishing themselves or better still ask someone like me to do it for them rather than buy new!
“With the rising cost of living impacting many of us, buying new pieces of furniture may not be a top priority. So, get creative and consider how to turn unloved pieces in your home into something more beautiful and fun with a little bit of paint (even better if it's some left over from a previous DIY project) and a few hours.”
Patrick O’Donnell, Brand Ambassador for Farrow & Ball
The collection features an eclectic mix of vintage pre-owned furniture, from art deco and traditional farmhouse styles to more contemporary pieces. Each piece was lovingly selected, upcycled and restored using Farrow & Ball Modern Eggshell paint and it has been so nice to see so much diversity within this profession.
Currently Available to buy right now on Vinterior, this hand picked collection shows you how you can instantly refresh and rejuvenate a piece of furniture that already has some great history, giving it a new chapter and lease of life in your space.
“Each seller has matched carefully chosen furniture to a hue that brings the piece of furniture to life,” Vinterior
I transformed this antique tallboy with a harlequin style pattern, using the colour, Beverly which is a clean and classic green by Farrow Ball, the end result is a striking piece that adds character to any space and for me it looks so much better than before.
When I think of Farrow & Ball, I always think of colours with a sense of heritage and so I really wanted to find a piece to suit them. This antique tallboy is timeless and good quality with that feeling of authentic British design, which was exactly what I was looking for in this campaign. The concept is inspired by the patterned quarry tiles I have outside my front door at home, and also the Minton tiles you often see in Victorian houses, a simple idea but adds a contemporary twist to this piece.
I chose this antique mahogany table after it had been left behind at my local furniture warehouse for months and months; in the end I had to give it a home but I wanted to tone right down the deep red mahogany tones in the wood still keeping some of the beautiful wood grain on show.
I decided on a classic yet modern twist in neutral colours using a subtle faded ombre effect. Farrow & Ball Hopper Head and Stirabout sit subtly against the natural wood grain of this table creating the perfect compromise between original character and contemporary design.
This stylish Stylish Mid Century Chest of Drawers made by renowned British maker 'Symbol' has retro brass handles and sits on tapered wooden legs typical of the fifties and sixties era.
When I found it, this had already been painted a few times in various shades of blue so I had my work cut out with restoring this back to former glory. Once fully stripped back, I painted the frame in Farrow & Ball Whirlybird Modern eggshell a beautiful minty green; the drawers are painted in Farrow & Ball Eddy a paler green and feature a geometric decoupaged design adding depth and interest; the top drawer has a white-washed effect as a contrast to the rest of the drawers, keeping some of the original wood grain on show. I also decided to reveal some natural wood to frame the paintwork and add character.
The result is a really tactile and on trend piece which would suit a contemporary space and to be honest I would love to keep it!

Perhaps my favourite piece of the whole collection, this beautiful Mid-Century Chest of Drawers, features rare curved sections to the sides and has so much style! I found this whilst on holiday and although it had already been upcycled in vinyl I could see potential.
The handles are original and have been cleaned to sparkling brass,, dating this chest of drawers to the 1950s. The fabulous rounded frame has been painted in Farrow & Ball Hopper Head a warm grey, to contrast with the hand-painted abstract artwork on the drawers in autumnal tones; the vintage legs are left natural wood with an oiled finish.

Pleased to say all these one-off pieces are now available on my website so grab them whilst you can. You can shop the whole collection here. And, last thing from me, it’s been a real honour to work on this campaign, I am ever so slightly proud and very excited about the fact that two large brands are beginning to take upcycling very seriously and speaking about it as a respected part of our future.
